Chrysoprase |

Of all the varieties of chalcedonies, it is surely the most invaluable: the best material, of a splendid apple green or a jade green with bluish nuances, it is almost transparent. Cabochons are assembled in ornaments with diamonds or white zircons. Colouring is due to hydrated nickel salts. Chrysoprases come from Australia (Queensland) as well as New Caledonia, Brazil and India. It is rather little known general public, and some times sold under the name of "Jade of Australia". |
